Hi there, let’s read some nonfiction together.

My name is Maneet (pronounced muh-neet), the host behind the Presently Reading book club. You may have seen my work on YouTube, or perhaps you’ve read one of my books. Regardless of how you ended up here, it’s great to meet you!

Enjoying a little reading break while on vacation in the Rocky Mountains.

How does the book club work?

We’ll read one nonfiction book every month.

About a week before each month starts, I’ll share a poll for the community to vote on the next book. I’ll include a few different books from my personal WTR (want-to-read) list along with some community suggestions.

Once we decide on a book, you’ll hear from me every Saturday.

I’ll write a short post with one lesson I’ve learned from the book so far, and I’ll also include a discussion question for all of us to participate in. I’d love to chat with you in the comments (be sure to post your introduction after joining).

For a running list of all the previous books we’ve read, check out this Notion page.

Why is it nonfiction only?

For whatever reason, it seems like most of my IRL friends (my wife included) only like to read fiction books. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good fiction book every once in a while. But nonfiction is my jam.

Thankfully, there’s a whole community of bookworms out there that love nonfiction as much as I do. I created this book club to find my people.

Is it free?

Yes, the book club and weekly discussions are always free.

I do offer a paid subscription for those interested in building a daily reading habit. The most common comment I receive from book club members is how challenging it can be to find time to read regularly. If you decide to upgrade, you’ll get extra posts that directly address this problem. I’ll also share my best tips and frameworks for taking notes while reading and using Book Tech more effectively.

Do you use AI?

All of my posts (including this) are written by me, Maneet. A real human.

With that being said, I do use AI to proofread and generate images. I may also use AI to repurpose my longer-form writing into shorter pieces of content for social media.

When did you start this book club?

I unintentionally started this book club toward the end of 2020, when I wanted to read Atomic Habits for the first time and was curious if anybody else would want to read it with me.

To my surprise, over a hundred people signed up!

Since then, I’ve continued reading a new book every single month. Over time, this has been a wonderful way to stay engaged with reading and meet like-minded people from around the world (2,000+ and counting).

For many years, I hosted this book club directly via email, but in 2026, I decided to transition to Substack.
